About 60 years ago a handfull of concerned Cranberry Twp. citizens had a vision. Through their efforts a charter was enacted on May 26, 1949 officially established th SENECA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT And RELIEF ASSOCIATION. For the control of fires and the protection of life and property from and during such fires and emergencies as may occur in Cranberry Twp Venango County, Pennsylvania. So equipment was purchased and the first fire station was built on land donated by Ed Porter.
Ever since, twenty-four hours a day seven days a week the Seneca VFD has remained committed to that mission, responding not only to emergencies, automobile accidents, medical emergencies and a wide array of human initiated events, but also to natural disasters including floods and tornadoes.
It would be impossible to measure the contributions and sacrifices that scores of individuals have made over the years. However ,it can be said with certainty , that through the individual and collective dedications and efforts of its members, supporters, friends and local government, the Seneca VFD has evolved to become the modern and proffessional fire and rescue organization it is today.
IN HONOR OF ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED.
